  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

Monolith of Time is our first album, a very heavy record, ranging from slow and doomish parts to blastbeats, guitars like a jackhammer puncturing your brain, and gloomy background vocals. Drums and bass are very clear and independent, enhancing the heaviness even more. The music has a somber mood all along the album, a mood in the vein of Incantation, Dead Congregation, Krypts, by the other hand, it also features lots of odd time signatures and elaborated arrangements.

The lyrics speak about themes related to ancient civilisations, their culture and their wars.

    ------------

about

The Stele of the Vultures is a monument from the Early Dynastic III period (2600–2350 BC) in Mesopotamia celebrating a victory of the city-state of Lagash over its neighbour Umma.

The stele was originally carved out of a single slab of limestone, but only seven fragments are known today.

It was the first war ever recorded, it tells the whole story of the war in various steps, there is a specific piece interpreted by archaeologists as the reason of the war being a wish of the god Ningirsu, an ancient Mesopotamian god associated with farming, healing, hunting, law, scribes, and war.

The fragments were found at Tello (ancient Girsu) in southern Iraq in the late 19th century and are now on display in the Louvre.

lyrics

Stele of the Vultures
The Will of Ningirsu
Phalanxes towards the battlefield
Spears above the vultures
Stepping on severed heads
Surround the king on a scud
A priest stepping in offal
Libation served in blood

A horned beast with breasts
Maces over her shoulders
Leads the ritual of death
Stele of the Vultures
Decapitated soldiers
Nourishing flying predators
The will of Ningirsu
Stele of the Vultures
